Peshawar (Web Desk): The KP government approves a Rs3.23 billion development package for Jamrud Tehsil, covering roads, health facilities, infrastructure, agriculture and local government projects.

Rs1.43 billion allocated for roads

A major portion of the package has been allocated for roads in Jamrud.

The government has approved Rs1.43 billion for the restoration and construction of roads across the tehsil. The road projects are expected to improve connectivity between different areas and make travel easier for residents.

Better roads could also improve access to schools, hospitals, markets and other public facilities. The investment comes as infrastructure remains an important part of development plans for areas where road networks need improvement.

Health facilities to receive Rs100 million

The development package also includes Rs100 million for improving healthcare facilities in Jamrud.

The funds will be used to upgrade 11 health centres across the tehsil. The planned improvements are aimed at strengthening basic healthcare services and making medical facilities more useful for local communities.

Better-equipped health centres could also reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for routine medical treatment. The health component is one of several areas covered under the government’s wider development plan for the tehsil.

Rs1.494 billion set aside for infrastructure

Another major allocation of Rs1.494 billion has been approved for infrastructure-related works.

The funding will cover projects such as pipe culverts, footpaths, drains and model streets. These projects are designed to improve basic civic infrastructure and address issues related to drainage, pedestrian movement and local roads.

Improved drainage systems could also help manage water flow and reduce problems caused by poor drainage in populated areas. The construction of model streets and footpaths is also expected to improve the overall appearance and usability of local neighbourhoods.

Rs200 million allocated for local government projects

The package includes Rs200 million for local government projects in Jamrud. The allocation is expected to support development work at the local level and address community needs.

Local government projects can play an important role in improving neighbourhood infrastructure and providing basic municipal services. The allocation also gives local authorities resources to undertake development work according to the needs of different areas.

Agriculture sector gets Rs100 million

Agriculture has also been included in the development package, with Rs100 million allocated to the sector.

One of the planned initiatives includes an olive oil extraction unit. The project could support the local agriculture sector and create opportunities for value-added agricultural activities.

Olive cultivation and related processing can help farmers increase the value of their produce instead of relying only on the sale of raw agricultural products. The agriculture allocation therefore forms an important part of the broader development plan for Jamrud.

Mosques and seminaries to receive solar systems

The government has also approved Rs1.5 million for the solarization of mosques and seminaries. The initiative aims to provide solar power facilities at religious institutions included in the development plan.

Solarization can help institutions reduce their dependence on conventional electricity and provide an alternative power source. Although the allocation is relatively small compared with other components, it is included as part of the government’s multi-sector development package.

What the Jamrud package covers

The Rs3.23 billion package brings together development projects from several departments. Road construction and restoration account for a major share of the funding, while infrastructure works receive another significant allocation.

Healthcare, local government and agriculture are also included, along with solarization projects for mosques and seminaries. The government’s plan therefore goes beyond a single sector and focuses on several areas that directly affect daily life.

Potential impact on residents

The development package could bring visible changes to Jamrud if the approved projects are completed as planned.

Improved roads could make transportation easier, while upgraded health centres could strengthen access to basic medical services. Drainage, footpaths and model streets could improve neighbourhood infrastructure and public spaces.

The agriculture initiatives could also support local farmers and encourage new economic activity. Together, these projects are intended to address some of the area’s infrastructure and public service needs.
