KARACHI (Web Desk): The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has warned that city could face water shortage of up to 100 million gallons per day due to power breakdown at Dhabeji station.

This power breakdown hits the Dhabeji Pumping Station, early Sunday at 6:25am. The repairing work is still in process and the system is expected to return to normal by today.

Four pumps were affected due to this, and the 72-inch Line No. 5, a key supply line for East and Central districts like Nazimabad, New Karachi, Landhi, and Korangi, was severely damaged.

Past breakdowns at the station have caused similar water shortages in the city.

The partial restoration process began at 9am after power returned to two pumps of Dhabeji Pumping Station.

Emergency repair teams are working continuously to restore the remaining pumps and complete pipeline repairs. KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui has directed all resources for rapid restoration.
