K-Electric announces 9 to 10-hour load shedding
K-Electric has released a planned maintenance shutdown schedule for Monday, July 27, 2026, warning that electricity will remain suspended for up to 9 to 10 hours in several parts of Karachi as repair and upgrade work is carried out on multiple feeders.
According to the utility company, the maintenance work will begin in the morning and continue in phases until the evening. The temporary power suspension is aimed at improving the reliability and performance of the city's electricity distribution network.
The affected locations include Khayaban-e-Khalid, Defence Phase 7, Defence Phase 8, DHA Golf Club, Coastal Street, Gulshan-e-Faisal, Gohar Green City, Gulistan CHS-1, Korangi Zoo, Landhi B, Malir Colony, Navy Housing Scheme, PAF Malir Cantonment, NED RMU, Shah Waliullah, Silver Town, Truck Stand and dozens of other residential, commercial and industrial areas.
K-Electric has advised consumers in the affected neighbourhoods to make necessary arrangements before the scheduled shutdown. Residents have been urged to charge electronic devices, ensure backup power is available where possible and plan activities that rely on electricity in advance.
The company said every effort will be made to restore electricity as soon as the maintenance work is completed. However, restoration times may vary depending on technical conditions at individual feeders.
Scheduled maintenance shutdowns are carried out periodically to replace ageing equipment, improve system stability and reduce the risk of unexpected outages in the future.
