ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Islamabad Traffic Police penalises over 44,000 vehicles and motorcycles for traffic violations this month, while hundreds of vehicles are impounded and thousands of citizens receive road safety guidance.

According to ITP data, a total of 44,078 vehicles, motorcycles, freight vehicles and public transport vehicles were penalised for various traffic violations.

The figure includes 14,725 motorcycles and 29,353 other vehicles. The enforcement drive is part of efforts to improve traffic discipline and make roads safer for motorists, passengers and pedestrians.

Thousands of vehicles impounded

The traffic police also impounded 2,662 motorcycles and 3,840 vehicles for traffic violations during the same period. Authorities also registered 544 cases at police stations across Islamabad.

The action shows that traffic enforcement remains a major focus of the department as officials seek to ensure compliance with road safety regulations. Drivers and motorcyclists have been urged to follow traffic rules to avoid legal action and help maintain an organised flow of traffic.

ITP combines enforcement with awareness

Alongside enforcement, the Islamabad Traffic Police has continued its public awareness campaign. The Traffic Education Wing conducted 76 awareness workshops at public places, government and private institutions, schools, colleges and universities.

The sessions reached 72,737 citizens and students, according to the traffic police. The awareness drive focuses on educating road users about safe driving practices and the importance of following traffic laws.

Traffic police urge motorists to follow rules

Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan said following traffic laws was essential for protecting lives and creating a safe travel environment. She urged citizens to observe speed limits and maintain lane discipline while driving.

Motorcyclists were also advised to wear helmets and follow other traffic regulations. She stressed that responsible driving could help reduce the risk of road accidents and protect both motorists and other road users.

ITP says enforcement is not meant to inconvenience citizens

Kainat Azhar Khan said the objective of the Islamabad Traffic Police was not to cause unnecessary inconvenience to citizens. She said the department wanted to provide people with a safe and organised traffic system.

The chief traffic officer added that the ITP was focusing on both enforcement and public education. According to her, better awareness could encourage citizens to follow traffic rules voluntarily rather than comply only after facing penalties.

Awareness remains key to road safety

The traffic police’s awareness workshops are aimed at reaching people in different age groups and settings. Schools, colleges and universities provide an important opportunity to educate young people about road safety before they become regular drivers.

Similarly, awareness sessions at public places and government and private institutions can reach a wider section of the population. Officials believe combining education with enforcement can help improve compliance with traffic rules.
