ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Authorities have announced a special traffic strategy in the capital as preparations for Independence Day celebrations gather pace.

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced a special Islamabad traffic plan to manage the expected rush of vehicles during Independence Day celebrations.

Under the Islamabad traffic plan, heavy traffic will not be allowed to enter the capital from midnight on August 12 until midnight on August 14. Officials say the move is aimed at ensuring smooth movement and preventing congestion during the celebrations.

The special arrangements are part of the broader Independence Day traffic management strategy, as thousands of people are expected to travel across Islamabad to participate in national events.

Diversions announced around H-8

The ITP has also announced Islamabad traffic restrictions on several roads near Yadgar-e-Fateh in H-8.

Authorities said temporary diversions will be introduced around the area to manage the increased flow of vehicles. Drivers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes where possible.

Officials believe these Islamabad traffic restrictions will help reduce traffic jams and improve safety during the celebrations.

The Independence Day traffic arrangements are expected to remain in place throughout major events taking place in the capital.

Citizens asked to cooperate

The Islamabad Traffic Police has urged residents to cooperate with traffic officials deployed across the city.

Motorists have been advised to follow directions given by traffic wardens and avoid entering restricted areas. Traffic personnel will guide drivers toward designated alternative routes.

Authorities say the Islamabad traffic plan has been prepared to ensure that celebrations continue without major disruptions.

Citizens can also stay informed about road conditions through ITP FM 92.4 and the official social media accounts of Islamabad Traffic Police.

Plan your travel before leaving home

People travelling with families or attending events are advised to leave early and check the latest updates before starting their journey.
The Independence Day traffic arrangements could affect travel times, especially around central Islamabad and H-8.
