Iranian envoy thanks Pakistan for attending Khamenei's funeral
Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people and government of Pakistan for attending the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In a statement shared on X, the ambassador thanked Pakistan for participating in the funeral at the highest level. He said the participation reflected the deep friendship and mutual respect shared between the two neighbouring countries.
The ambassador specifically thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for attending the ceremony and standing with the people of Iran during their time of grief.
He also thanked Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, as well as other senior government officials, religious scholars, political leaders, and cultural personalities who attended the funeral.

Reza Amiri Moghaddam said Pakistan’s presence at the historic ceremony demonstrated the strong and longstanding relationship between the two brotherly nations. He added that the support reflected the shared values and close ties that have connected Iran and Pakistan for many years.
The ambassador said Iran and Pakistan have always stood by each other in difficult times as well as during moments of celebration. He described Pakistan’s participation in the funeral as another example of the trust, friendship, and mutual respect shared between the two countries.
His remarks came after Pakistan sent a high-level delegation to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremonies, where leaders and representatives from several countries gathered to pay their respects.
