IHC orders protection for doctor
The Islamabad High Court has issued a written order on a petition filed by Dr Nuzhat Shakir.
The IHC lady doctor protection case came before the court after Dr Nuzhat Shakir sought help over the alleged occupation of her home. She also requested security over concerns about her safety.
A bench headed by Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the petition and directed police authorities to ensure the doctor’s security.
The court specifically directed the Islamabad Inspector General of Police, SSP and the concerned station house officer to provide protection to Dr Nuzhat Shakir.
Court seeks replies from parties
The IHC also issued notices to the parties involved in the case.
The respondents have been asked to submit their replies before the court. The case will be heard again on October 13.
The IHC lady doctor protection matter will remain under judicial consideration as the court examines the concerns raised by the doctor.
The court’s order means that the relevant police officials will be responsible for ensuring her safety while the legal proceedings continue.
Missing man’s case also heard
During another hearing, the IHC also took up a petition concerning Afzal Maseeh, who has reportedly been missing from Islamabad.
The petition was filed by his wife after he could not be recovered despite an earlier court order.
Justice Arbab Muhammad heard the case. Two respondents named in the petition, Raja Yasir and Faisal, appeared before the court.
During the hearing, a DSP told the court that the respondents had a financial dispute with the missing man.
The police official requested more time to recover Afzal Maseeh.

Police given more time for recovery
The lawyer representing the petitioner also requested that police be given additional time to recover the missing man.
The court accepted the request and granted police two more days to complete their efforts.
The bench directed the police to recover Afzal Maseeh by Friday.
The IHC lady doctor protection case and the missing man’s petition both saw fresh directions from the court during the proceedings.
What happens next
The doctor’s protection case will return before the IHC on October 13.
Police officials have been directed to maintain security for Dr Nuzhat Shakir until further orders.
Meanwhile, police must also work to recover Afzal Maseeh within the time given by the court.
