HEC launches online degree verification system across Pakistan
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has officially launched an online degree verification system across Pakistan, marking a major step toward digital transformation in education services. The new system has come into effect from May 1, allowing applicants to complete the verification process without visiting HEC offices.
According to HEC officials, individuals seeking degree verification will now be required to apply online through the designated portal. The move is expected to significantly reduce the time, cost, and inconvenience previously associated with the process.
Earlier, applicants were required to physically visit HEC offices for degree attestation, often facing long queues and delays. With the introduction of the online system, degree holders can now avoid repeated visits and complete the procedure from their homes.
Officials stated that the new system will not only streamline operations but also improve transparency and efficiency. It is designed to handle a large number of applications, as hundreds of thousands of individuals seek degree verification from HEC every year.
The initiative is being seen as part of the government’s broader push toward digital governance and public service reforms. Education experts have welcomed the move, saying it will particularly benefit students and professionals living in remote areas who previously had to travel long distances.
HEC has also assured users that the system is secure and user-friendly, with proper mechanisms in place to ensure the authenticity and safety of documents submitted online.
The launch of the digital verification system is expected to modernize one of the most frequently used services in Pakistan’s higher education sector and provide long-term convenience to degree holders nationwide.
