ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pakistan is expected to receive rain and thunderstorms for two days as a westerly wave enters the upper parts of the country, bringing wet weather to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a spell of rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country as a westerly wave approaches the upper regions.

According to the weather forecast, the system is expected to enter the upper parts of Pakistan during the night and remain in the region until October 7. The weather system is likely to bring rain, windstorms and thunderstorms to several districts.

Some areas could also experience isolated hailstorms during the spell. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain alert, particularly during thunderstorms and strong winds.

Rain forecast for Punjab and Islamabad

Several parts of Punjab and the federal capital are expected to receive rain and thunderstorms on October 6 and 7.

The forecast includes Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree and the Galiyat, where weather conditions could become unsettled during the two days.

Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad and Wazirabad.

Other affected areas include Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab and Sargodha.

Parts of central Punjab, including Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad, may also receive rain and thunderstorms.

Isolated hailstorms are possible in some areas, according to the forecast.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faces wider rain spell

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience a broader spell of unsettled weather. Rain, windstorms and thunderstorms are forecast in several districts from the night of October 5 until October 7.

The affected areas include Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad.

Rain is also expected in Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi.

Several other districts could also receive thunderstorms, including Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan.

Isolated hailstorms are also possible during the weather spell.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may receive rain

The weather system is also expected to affect parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rain, windstorms and thunderstorms are forecast in several areas on October 6 and 7.

In Kashmir, the affected areas include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.

Some locations could also experience isolated hailstorms.

Balochistan mostly remains hot and dry

Most parts of Balochistan are expected to remain hot and dry during the forecast period. However, isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel on the evening or night of October 6.

Weather conditions in these areas could change temporarily as the system moves through the region. Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay updated with the latest weather advisories.

Sindh likely to remain hot and dry

The weather in Sindh is expected to remain mainly hot and dry in the coming days. No widespread rain has been forecast for the province under the current weather system. Temperatures are therefore likely to remain high across most parts of Sindh.

Hail and thunderstorms could disrupt routine activities

The forecast of thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms could affect daily activities in several areas. Strong winds during thunderstorms can cause temporary disruption, particularly in exposed locations.

Residents should exercise caution during severe weather and avoid unnecessary travel when thunderstorms are active. People living in vulnerable areas should also take precautions against strong winds and sudden changes in weather.

Weather system to remain active until October 7

The approaching westerly wave is expected to remain influential until October 7, with different regions experiencing rain at different times. The most significant impact is expected across the northern and upper parts of the country, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Balochistan is expected to remain mostly hot and dry, although isolated thunderstorms are possible in some districts. Sindh is also expected to continue experiencing mainly hot and dry conditions.

Residents are advised to follow weather updates

Weather conditions can change quickly during a westerly system, particularly when thunderstorms and strong winds develop. Residents in the affected areas should follow official weather updates and advisories during the forecast period.

Motorists travelling through northern and mountainous areas should also remain cautious if rain or thunderstorms reduce visibility or affect road conditions. The situation will become clearer as the weather system moves across the country.
