Hajj 2027 applications delayed as ministry announces new date
According to ministry sources, pilgrims will be able to submit applications and make payments through Habib Bank branches on a first-come, first-served basis.
The application process will continue until the government’s allocated quota is filled. Applicants are therefore expected to submit their forms and payments promptly to secure a place under the government scheme.
Pakistan’s total Hajj quota for 2027 has been fixed at 179,210 pilgrims. Of the total, 107,526 seats, or 60%, have been allocated to the government Hajj scheme, while 71,684 seats, or 40%, have been reserved for private operators.
The ministry has said Hajj expenses will be collected in two equal instalments. Pilgrims will be required to pay 50% of the total cost when submitting their applications.
In another major development, Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders will be eligible for Hajj 2027 for the first time.
Under the new arrangement, 1% of Pakistan’s total Hajj quota, equal to 1,792 seats, will be reserved for Pakistani-origin POC holders.
Eligible POC holders will be able to apply through both the government and private Hajj schemes. However, their participation will remain subject to Saudi visa requirements and any applicable legal or administrative conditions.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is expected to release detailed terms, conditions and other instructions on its official website.
The changes are expected to provide more opportunities for Pakistani pilgrims and overseas Pakistanis seeking to perform Hajj in 2027.
