The government has developed a mobile application to provide fuel subsidy to motorcycle and rickshaw riders, according to official sources.
The app has been prepared with the support of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, which will also assist in the registration process for eligible motorcycles and rickshaws.
Sources said that in the initial phase, the subsidy will only be available for 70cc motorcycles and rickshaws, while motorcycles with engines above 70cc will not qualify for the scheme. Eligible riders will receive a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.

The mobile application will also be used to manage the supply and quota of subsidised petrol. Officials say the system is expected to streamline the distribution process and prevent misuse.
According to sources, the scheme is likely to begin next week, with registered motorcycle and rickshaw owners receiving petrol on a quota basis at the subsidised rate.
