Islamabad (Web Desk): Petrol price has dropped by Rs2.27 per litre to Rs389.03, while diesel has fallen by Rs3.56 to Rs404.97 as the new fuel rates take effect across Pakistan.

Petrol price drops to Rs389.03 per litre

The price of petrol has been reduced by Rs2.27 per litre under the latest fuel-price revision. Following the reduction, petrol will now be available at Rs389.03 per litre. The new rate brings petrol below the Rs390-per-litre mark, offering some relief to motorists who have been facing high fuel costs.

The revised petrol price took effect on September 29, 2026. Before the latest reduction, petrol was being sold at Rs391.30 per litre. The new price represents a reduction for consumers, particularly those who use private vehicles for daily travel.

Diesel price falls to Rs404.97 per litre

The price of high-speed diesel has also been reduced under the latest revision. Diesel has become cheaper by Rs3.56 per litre, bringing its new price down to Rs404.97 per litre. Despite the latest reduction, diesel remains above the Rs400-per-litre level.

The change is important for the transport and agriculture sectors, where diesel is widely used for commercial vehicles, machinery and other operations. Lower diesel prices can also help reduce transportation costs because trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles rely heavily on diesel.

New fuel rates take effect across Pakistan

The revised petrol and diesel prices came into effect on September 29.

The reduction means motorists will pay less for both major petroleum products compared with the previous rates. Petrol has recorded a decline of Rs2.27 per litre, while diesel has seen a larger reduction of Rs3.56 per litre.

The latest adjustment comes as fuel prices continue to be revised based on changes in international oil prices and other factors used to determine petroleum rates. For consumers, even a small reduction in fuel prices can make a difference to monthly travel expenses.

Petrol moves below the Rs390 mark

One of the key changes in the latest revision is that petrol has moved below Rs390 per litre. Petrol had previously reached Rs391.30 per litre. The new rate of Rs389.03 represents a reduction of more than Rs2 per litre.

The change may provide some immediate relief to motorists, especially those who regularly travel long distances. However, the overall impact on household budgets will depend on how long the lower rate remains in place and how future fuel-price revisions affect consumers.

Diesel remains above Rs400

Although diesel has also become cheaper, its price remains above Rs400 per litre.

The new rate of Rs404.97 means consumers are still paying more than Rs400 for every litre of diesel. This is particularly important for the transport sector.

Commercial transport operators generally use large quantities of diesel, meaning changes in its price can influence their operating expenses. Higher or lower fuel costs can also have an indirect impact on the prices of goods because transportation is an important part of the supply chain.

What the latest reduction means for consumers

The latest cuts provide some relief to motorists and businesses using petrol and diesel. Private vehicle owners will benefit from the lower petrol price when filling their tanks. Similarly, transporters and businesses that rely on diesel-powered vehicles will see a reduction in their fuel expenses.

However, the impact on transport fares and the prices of goods may not be immediate. Fuel is only one part of the overall cost of transportation. Other expenses include vehicle maintenance, wages, tolls, and operating costs.

Fuel prices remain closely watched

Petroleum prices are closely watched in Pakistan because changes can affect transportation, businesses, and household budgets.

Any significant movement in fuel prices can also influence the cost of moving goods from one city to another. For this reason, motorists, transport operators, traders and consumers generally pay close attention to each new fuel-price revision.

The latest reduction has brought petrol below the Rs390 level, while diesel remains above the Rs400 mark. Future fuel prices will depend on the factors considered during the next revision.
