Government introduces online police character certificate system across Pakistan
Government approves nationwide digital service
The federal government has approved a unified system to issue Police Character Certificates across Pakistan.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the National Police Bureau (NPB).
Officials said the move is part of the government's efforts to modernize public services and make important official documents easier to obtain.
The new online Police Character Certificate system will create a single process for applicants throughout the country.
Citizens will be able to apply from home
According to the government, people will no longer need to complete lengthy paperwork or repeatedly visit different offices.
Instead, applicants will be able to submit requests from their homes through the National Police Bureau's online portal.
Officials believe the online Police Character Certificate system will save time, reduce unnecessary delays and improve public convenience.
The Interior Minister said converting the process into a fully digital system will make document issuance much faster and more transparent.

National Police Bureau to manage certificates
Under the approved framework, the National Police Bureau will become responsible for issuing Police Clearance Certificates through the centralized portal.
Applicants will upload the required documents online and receive updates without repeatedly visiting police offices.
Authorities said the online Police Character Certificate portal will also help maintain accurate records while ensuring the same procedure is followed nationwide.
Officials added that the standardized system will improve coordination between departments and reduce confusion caused by different regional procedures.
Better services for Pakistanis traveling abroad
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi also instructed officials to develop a nationwide system for issuing International Driving Permits.
According to the minister, both digital systems will especially benefit Pakistanis planning to work, study or settle abroad, where Police Clearance Certificates and driving permits are often required.
The government believes these reforms will simplify official documentation and improve access to essential public services.

Part of broader government reforms
Officials described the project as another step toward digital governance and improved public service delivery.
The government aims to reduce paperwork, increase transparency and shorten processing times through technology-based services.

The launch date and operational details of the online Police Character Certificate portal are expected to be announced after the technical preparations are completed.
The Interior Ministry said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to providing faster and more efficient services to citizens across Pakistan.
