Government Cuts Petrol Price To Rs392.66 Per Litre
Islamabad, October 14
Petrol prices in Pakistan have been reduced by Rs2.71 per litre, bringing the rate to Rs392.66, while high-speed diesel has been cut by three paisa to Rs396.82 per litre. The revised prices took effect on Wednesday, October 14, according to the Petroleum Division.
Latest Fuel Revision
The previous petrol price was Rs395.37 per litre, while high-speed diesel had been selling at Rs396.85. The changes were made under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism following a review by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). Officials cited international market movements, including Platts rates, premiums and other costs, as factors behind the adjustment.
Limited Relief For Consumers
The petrol reduction offers some relief to motorists, but the change is modest compared with the overall price level. Diesel, which is widely used by freight vehicles, buses and agricultural machinery, has seen almost no reduction. Fuel costs can affect transport fares, food distribution and the operating expenses of businesses, meaning even small adjustments are closely watched by consumers.

Global Oil Market
International crude prices have fluctuated amid concerns about security in the Middle East and prospects for additional diesel supplies. Benchmark oil prices fell on Tuesday after rising in the previous session, adding to uncertainty over the direction of future domestic revisions.
Prices Remain Under Watch
The latest rates apply from October 14, and further changes will depend on global oil prices, exchange-rate movements and the government’s pricing decisions. Consumers and transport operators are likely to monitor the next review closely, particularly as fuel remains a major household and business expense.
