FIA arrests 190 illegal visa agents, recovers Rs616 million
The agency also registered 1,543 cases linked to the operation.
Islamabad accounts for most arrests and recoveries
According to FIA data, the Islamabad Circle arrested 120 suspects and recovered Rs411.05 million. The Rawalpindi Circle arrested 70 suspects and recovered Rs204.5 million.
Public urged to check visa agents
The FIA has advised citizens to verify visa agents before paying for overseas jobs or travel services. People who suspect visa fraud should report it to the authorities to help prevent others from losing money.
Cybercrime agency arrests three suspects
In a separate case, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Rawalpindi Circle arrested three suspects, including a woman, over alleged fraud targeting foreign nationals. The suspects reportedly pretended to be bank representatives and foreign law enforcement officials to threaten victims and demand money.
Investigation continues into alleged online fraud
Officials seized mobile phones during the raid and are working to identify and arrest other suspected accomplices. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code, while the investigation continues.
The arrests and financial recoveries highlight the risks of visa fraud and scams involving fake officials. Citizens should verify agents and never send money based only on promises of overseas employment or claims made by unknown callers.
