Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a major Ramazan 2026 relief package, announcing Rs 13,000 in financial assistance for millions of low-income families across Pakistan.
Under the special initiative, around 12.1 million deserving families will receive direct cash support to help them purchase essential food items during the holy month of ramazan. The government said the funds will be distributed without discrimination to ensure broad coverage of vulnerable households.
Officials confirmed that payments will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through digital wallets and bank accounts. The move aims to eliminate corruption risks and ensure transparency. The State Bank of Pakistan has issued a formal mechanism to guarantee secure and swift transfers.
In addition, Rs 10 billion has been allocated for individuals already registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme, ensuring they continue to receive support without disruption.

The government clarified that most eligible families are already listed in official social protection databases and will not need to reapply. However, those who believe they qualify but are not registered can verify their eligibility through designated government offices or the official online portal.
The prime minister said the new system replaces the old utility store model, which often faced complaints of long queues and poor-quality goods. By shifting to direct cash transfers, the government hopes to protect the dignity of beneficiaries and improve efficiency during ramazan 2026.
