(Web Desk): Electricity consumers across Pakistan will pay more in June after Nepra approved a fuel price adjustment increase of Rs 1.19 per unit.

Electricity consumers across Pakistan are set to face higher power bills after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved a fresh increase in electricity tariffs under the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism.

According to an official notification, power tariffs have been increased by Rs 1.19 per unit for consumers nationwide, including those served by K-Electric. The adjustment has been made for April 2026 and will be reflected in electricity bills issued during June.

The increase comes as another financial burden for households and businesses already struggling with rising living costs ahead of the federal budget. Consumers fear that higher electricity charges will further strain family budgets and increase operating expenses for commercial users.

Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested a tariff increase of Rs 1.73 per unit for April's fuel cost adjustment. However, after reviewing the request, Nepra approved a lower increase of Rs 1.19 per unit.

Energy sector experts say monthly fuel adjustments are linked to fluctuations in fuel costs used for electricity generation. These charges are passed on to consumers through periodic revisions in electricity bills.

Public reaction to the latest increase has been largely negative, with many consumers urging the government to provide relief amid persistent inflationary pressures. Citizens argue that repeated increases in utility charges are making it increasingly difficult to manage household expenses.

The latest hike comes at a time when preparations for the new fiscal year's budget are underway, adding to concerns about the cost of living and the broader economic challenges facing consumers across the country.
