Special bus depots will be built in each division to support operations smoothly. These depots will help manage charging, maintenance and daily bus services.

The chief minister also asked for a plan to introduce 1,500 electric buses at the tehsil level. This step could expand modern transport to smaller cities and towns.

A briefing was also given on Punjab’s first e-taxi scheme during the meeting. Around 194 vehicles are expected in May, while 208 more will arrive in June.

Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to complete metro bus station upgrades quickly. She also approved new modern designs to improve passenger facilities.

The meeting discussed the “Empower Her” project and approved an e-bike plan for government employees. This initiative aims to support mobility and ease daily travel.

Officials revealed that over 125,000 passengers have already benefited from the free transport program. So far, buses have completed 3,560 trips across 21 routes.
