In a smart move to solve daily commuting issues, two students have developed a mobile application to help passengers of Punjab’s electric bus service access accurate route and timing information.

how the idea started

One of the developers, Muhammad Ghayas, said the idea came after he personally faced a long wait at a bus stop, only to discover that the last bus had already left. This frustrating experience pushed him and his colleague Rizwan Ali to create a simple digital solution.

what the app offers

The application provides detailed information about electric bus routes, stops, and departure schedules. It also sends notifications if there are any changes in routes or timings, helping passengers plan their journeys better.

A key feature is that the app can work even without internet access, making it useful for a wider range of users. The developers said the data used in the app is publicly available but presented in a user-friendly format.

early success and response

Although the app is not yet available on the Play Store, it has gained rapid popularity online. After being shared on Instagram, it received over 50,000 views within two days and was downloaded by more than 500 users.

future plans and challenges

Currently, the app does not include live bus tracking. The developers said adding this feature would require support from authorities like the Punjab Transport Authority and Punjab Information Technology Board.

They have also reached out to Maryam Nawaz for support. The app currently covers six to seven major cities, with plans to expand further based on user demand.
