Diesel price cut brings 10% reduction in goods transport fares
The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association has announced a 10% reduction in freight charges following the government’s decision to cut the price of diesel by Rs32 per litre.
Association President Nabeel Mahmood Tariq welcomed the reduction, saying lower fuel costs would help reduce expenses for businesses involved in transporting commercial goods.
He said the decrease in diesel prices would also provide some relief to the transport industry, which has faced rising operating costs.
Lower Fuel Costs to Help Businesses
According to the association, fuel is a major component of transportation expenses. A reduction in diesel prices can therefore lower the cost of moving goods between cities and across the country.
Transporters said the latest decision could provide relief to traders and businesses by reducing logistics and delivery costs.
The move could also have an indirect impact on the prices of goods if lower transportation expenses are passed on to consumers.
Call for Longer Relief
Nabeel Mahmood Tariq welcomed the government’s fuel price decision but urged authorities to maintain the reduced freight rates for at least one week.
He said a temporary reduction would give businesses and consumers an opportunity to benefit from lower transportation costs.
The association’s announcement comes after the government reduced the price of high-speed diesel by Rs32.63 per litre.
The sharp reduction has been welcomed by transport operators, as diesel remains a key operating expense for trucks and other commercial vehicles.
Impact on Freight Market
The 10% reduction in transport fares is expected to provide short-term relief to traders, manufacturers and other businesses dependent on road transportation.
However, transporters are also likely to keep a close watch on future fuel price adjustments before deciding whether the reduced rates can be maintained for a longer period.
For now, the fare cut offers a potential reduction in logistics costs at a time when businesses continue to face pressure from transportation and operating expenses.
