CPPA seeks Rs1.20 per unit increase in electricity prices
According to the application, NEPRA will hold a public hearing on July 29 to review the request before making a final decision on whether to approve the proposed increase. The proposed adjustment is part of the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism, under which electricity tariffs are revised based on changes in power generation costs.
The CPPA informed NEPRA that hydropower remained the largest source of electricity generation in June, accounting for 39 percent of the country’s total power generation during the month. According to the application, electricity generated from local coal accounted for 10.11 percent, while imported coal contributed 12.65 percent to the national power generation mix.
