10 hour power outage schedule announced
The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced a temporary electricity suspension schedule for several areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum on July 17, 2026, due to annual maintenance activities, development projects and the installation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart meters.
According to an IESCO spokesperson, power outages will only affect feeders and transmission lines undergoing repair and upgrade work. Consumers have been advised to plan their daily activities accordingly, while electricity supply may be restored earlier than scheduled if work is completed ahead of time.
The utility company said maintenance work on the 132kV AWHMC Taxila and 132kV Sanjani-Burhan transmission lines will result in electricity suspension from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Meanwhile, maintenance on the 132kV Chakwal-Bhagwal-Talagang, 132kV Kahuta City-Palandri and 132kV New Wah-Better Mor transmission lines will lead to power outages from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This is expected to be the longest shutdown period in the latest schedule.
In Islamabad Circle, areas connected to the Kuri, Rehara, HM Pak Zong and IT Park feeders will experience outages from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. In Rawalpindi Cantonment Circle, consumers served by the Ghazan Khan feeder will face power suspension from 5:00 am to 10:00 am.
Several areas in Jhelum and GSO Circle, including Neela, Saal, Balkassar, Kot Choudhrian, Pehli, Dhalha and Karsal, will also remain without electricity for several hours.
IESCO said the upgrades are aimed at improving system reliability, safety and efficiency, and apologized for the temporary inconvenience caused to consumers.
