QUETTA (Web Desk): The BLA flag has drawn attention over its colours and design, with claims linking some elements to the region’s historical flags.

History behind the colours

The BLA flag uses red and green as its main colours. These colours have led to comparisons with flags historically associated with the Khanate of Kalat and former princely states including Kharan, Lasbela and Makran.

The Khanate of Kalat played an important role in the political history of the region. Historical flags connected with Kalat and other princely states also contained symbols such as the crescent and star.

These similarities have increased interest in BLA flag history and the possible meaning of its design. However, similarities between colours and symbols do not automatically prove that one flag was directly copied from another.

What the BLA symbols represent

The BLA symbolism has become part of wider discussions about the organisation’s identity. The BLA colours, particularly red and green, are often discussed in connection with the history and political identity of Balochistan.

The crescent and star were also common features of several historical flags in the region. The crescent has traditionally been associated with Islam, while stars have appeared in different forms and designs.

Claims have also circulated about the meaning of the five-pointed star on the BLA flag. Some interpretations suggest that it represents specific objectives of the organisation.

However, such interpretations should be treated carefully unless they are supported by official statements or reliable historical evidence.

Claims about foreign involvement

Some recent commentary has claimed that foreign intelligence agencies were involved in designing the BLA flag. These claims have specifically mentioned Israel’s Mossad and India’s Research and Analysis Wing, or RAW.

There is no reliable evidence in the material provided to establish these allegations as facts.

The Balochistan Liberation Army is a separatist militant organisation that operates in Pakistan and has been involved in attacks in Balochistan. The organisation has been designated as a terrorist group by Pakistan and several other countries.

Discussions about the BLA Pakistan issue often include allegations of foreign support. Such claims require independent verification and should not be presented as confirmed information without credible evidence.

Why the flag matters

The BLA symbols are more than just visual elements. Like other political and militant organisations, the group uses symbols to communicate identity and political messages.

The discussion surrounding BLA flag history also highlights the complicated political history of Balochistan. Historical links between the Balochistan Liberation Army and regional symbols remain a subject of public discussion.

At the same time, the wider issue of Balochistan separatism involves political, historical and security factors that cannot be explained through a flag alone.
