BISP 8171 makes balance check easier in 2026
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has made it easier for beneficiaries to check their payment status in 2026. Under the latest update, eligible families are receiving Rs 13,500 under the quarterly installment. The government says the new system is designed to improve transparency, speed and access for low-income households across Pakistan.
Online balance check
Beneficiaries with internet access can check their balance through the official 8171 web portal. Users need to visit the portal, enter their 13-digit CNIC number, type the captcha code and click submit. The system then displays payment details, eligibility status and balance information instantly.
SMS service for offline users
Families without internet can also verify their status through SMS. Applicants only need to type their CNIC number without dashes and send it to 8171. A reply message then confirms eligibility and payment details. This method is particularly helpful for people living in rural areas.
Digital wallet rollout begins
A major 2026 development is the gradual introduction of digital wallet payments. Under this system, financial assistance will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ accounts. Officials say this will reduce long queues at payment centres and make the process safer and more transparent.
Fraud warning and registration
Authorities have advised citizens to use only the official 8171 portal and SMS code. No fee is required for registration or payment release. New applicants must visit their nearest BISP Tehsil Office and complete the National Socio-Economic Registry survey to apply for support.
