A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight arriving from Paris was diverted to Multan because of poor weather conditions in Islamabad. A private airline flight travelling from Riyadh to Islamabad was also diverted and landed in Lahore.

The diversions came as adverse weather affected flight operations at airports in parts of Pakistan. Islamabad International Airport’s live schedule also showed several flights facing delays, cancellations and changes in estimated arrival times on Monday.

Bangkok-Lahore flights face long delays

Heavy rain also disrupted flights between Bangkok and Lahore. Two flights from Bangkok to Lahore were delayed by up to nine and a half hours, causing further disruption for passengers.

A Thai Airways flight that was scheduled to arrive in Lahore on Sunday night eventually reached the city on Monday morning. The airline’s return flight from Lahore was expected to depart later in the morning.

Bangkok-Karachi flights cancelled

The disruption was more severe on the Bangkok-Karachi route. Two flights travelling from Bangkok to Karachi were cancelled after facing delays of around 20 hours.

The latest disruptions highlight how adverse weather can affect flight schedules, forcing airlines to divert aircraft, delay services or cancel flights when operating conditions become difficult.
