Punjab's flagship Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme has achieved another significant milestone, with more than 108,000 homes completed for deserving families as the government continues to expand affordable housing across the province.

According to the Punjab Housing Department, over Rs231 billion in housing loans have been disbursed under the programme, making it one of the province's largest housing finance initiatives. The scheme aims to help low- and middle-income families build their own homes through easy and transparent financing.

Officials said the latest progress reflects the government's commitment to increasing home ownership and improving living standards for thousands of families who previously struggled to afford permanent housing.

More than 108,000 homes completed

The Housing Department revealed that 108,977 houses have been completed under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme, while construction is currently underway on another 26,128 homes.

The ongoing projects are expected to further increase the number of families benefiting from the programme in the coming months. Authorities said construction work continues across different districts of Punjab as approved applicants receive financial support.

Officials believe the scheme is playing a key role in reducing Pakistan's housing shortage while creating employment opportunities in the construction sector.

Over 1.4 million applications received

Public interest in the programme has remained strong, with the Housing Department receiving 1,426,556 applications from citizens seeking affordable housing loans.

The department said applications continue to be processed through a transparent digital system designed to ensure fairness and efficiency throughout the approval process.

Out of the pending applications, 7,740 housing loans are now ready for disbursement. Authorities plan to distribute approximately Rs14 billion among eligible beneficiaries during the next phase of the programme.

Officials added that applicants meeting the required eligibility criteria will receive financial assistance without unnecessary delays.
