ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Government of Pakistan has temporarily reopened the Torkham border to facilitate the return of Afghan refugees in an organized and controlled manner.

Officials said the move is part of a state policy to ensure the safe and dignified repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals living in Pakistan.

The process began on March 26, 2026, with authorities directing key institutions, including the Federal Investigation Agency, the National Database and Registration Authority, customs authorities, and the National Logistics Corporation, to ensure full coordination.

Strict security arrangements have been put in place in Torkham, Landi Kotal, and nearby areas to prevent any disruptions during the process.

Refugees will be transferred in phases through designated points, especially the Hamza Baba Camp, where movement will remain controlled to avoid overcrowding and mismanagement.

Officials said the government aims to maintain proper order while ensuring that returning individuals are treated with respect and dignity.

Authorities added that security forces and civilian institutions are working together to carry out the plan smoothly and effectively.

The decision also reflects Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen border control and enforce immigration laws while managing humanitarian concerns.
