Shawwal moon sighted; Eid-ul-Fitr to be observed tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The Shawwal moon has been sighted and Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed tomorrow, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee said.

The meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Islamabad. It was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Scholars of different schools of thought and experts from the Meteorological Department also participated in the meeting.

There were also zonal meetings of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta.

According to the Meteorological Department, the Shawwal moon was likely to be sighted on April 9 in the country.

On the other hand, the Bohra community celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr today with enthusiasm and religious fervour on Tuesday.

It is to be noted here that the Shawwal moon had been sighted neither in Saudi Arabia nor Pakistan, but the Bohra community of Karachi celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday.

Strict security arrangements were made outside and around the Tahiri Masjid where the Bohra community members offered Eid prayers. A heavy contingent of Rangers and police was deployed.
