KARACHI (Web Desk): A mild 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Karachi's Malir area early Monday, causing brief panic but no damage. Similar tremors were recently reported in Balochistan’s Kalat district.

Light tremors were felt in parts of Karachi early Monday morning as a mild earthquake hit the city. According to the Seismological Centre, the quake measured 3.0 on the Richter scale and struck at around 3:14am.

The epicenter was located in the Malir area, with a depth of 8 kilometers. Residents in Quaidabad and nearby localities reported feeling the tremors, which briefly caused panic but did not lead to any reported injuries or structural damage.

Authorities confirmed that the tremor was minor and no emergency response was required. However, it did prompt concern among locals due to its early morning timing and proximity to residential areas.

Just a week earlier, on June 16, a similar low-intensity earthquake measuring 3.1 magnitude was recorded in Baluchistan’s Kalat district. That quake also caused alarm but resulted in no reported damage.

Seismologists have urged residents to stay alert and follow basic safety precautions in the event of future tremors, even if mild in nature.

It should be noted that at least 57 earthquakes have been recorded since the start of June.
