The Punjab government, in collaboration with NADRA and the Punjab Information Technology Board, has officially launched the Pak ID app to streamline vehicle ownership verification and transfers across the province. The app enables secure biometric and Face ID verification for vehicle owners, eliminating the need for multiple visits to government offices. Both residents of Pakistan and overseas Pakistanis can now complete the verification process from home.
Key Features of the Pak ID App
- Biometric Verification: Vehicle owners can authenticate ownership online using thumb impression or Face ID.
- Ownership Transfers: Registration, purchase, and sale of vehicles can be completed digitally, making transactions transparent and secure.
- Fee Payments: Vehicle transfer fees can be paid via E-Pay, ensuring a cashless, visit-less, and paperless process.
- Fast Processing: Once verification and fee payment are completed, the transfer is finalized within 48 hours.
- Accessible for Overseas Pakistanis: Eliminates the need for embassy visits, affidavits, or powers of attorney.

Launch Ceremony and Officials’ Statements
The app was inaugurated at the Excise & Taxation Directorate in Lahore by DG Excise and Taxation Umar Sher Chatha, with senior officials from NADRA and PITB present. DG Excise emphasized that the app will streamline processes for over 26 million vehicles in Punjab, enhance digital governance, reduce human intervention, and prevent fraudulent transfers.
NADRA’s Chief Project Officer Rehman Qamar described the Pak ID app as a secure, modern, and reliable digital platform designed to improve transparency, strengthen public trust, and facilitate service delivery. The DG Excise further noted that integration with national vehicle databases will enhance verification and governance across Pakistan.
Step-by-Step Biometric Verification Process
1. Download the Pak ID mobile app.
2. Enter vehicle details, including registration number, chassis number, and owner’s name.
3. Complete biometric or Face ID verification from home.
4. Pay applicable vehicle transfer fees online via E-Pay.
5. Finalize ownership transfer within 48 hours.
