(Web Desk): Punjab introduces Pak-ID based online biometric verification to ease vehicle sale and transfer for locals and overseas Pakistanis.

In a major relief for citizens, the Excise and Taxation Department Punjab has announced a new digital facility to simplify the buying and selling of vehicles through online biometric verification. The initiative has been launched in collaboration with NADRA Technologies as part of the government’s drive toward digital governance.

Under the new system, vehicle owners and buyers can now complete biometric verification online using Pak-ID, eliminating the need to visit excise offices in person. With just a single click, users can verify their biometrics from home, making the vehicle transfer process faster, easier, and more transparent.

Officials said the digital system has been designed to reduce paperwork, long queues, and manual affidavits. Previously, biometric verification often required physical presence, handwritten affidavits, or visits to embassies for overseas Pakistanis. The new Pak-ID based system replaces these steps with secure online verification.

The facility will benefit not only local residents but also overseas Pakistanis, who will now be able to complete vehicle sale or purchase procedures remotely. This move is expected to significantly reduce delays and fraud in vehicle ownership transfers.

Authorities added that the system will improve record accuracy and enhance public convenience by integrating NADRA’s advanced identity verification technology with the Excise Department’s databases.

The Excise and Taxation Department said the digital transformation reflects its commitment to providing citizen-friendly services and modernizing public systems. Further awareness campaigns will be launched to guide users on how to use the new online biometric service effectively.
