(Web Desk): Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz formally inaugurated the ‘Maryam Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab’ development program to upgrade infrastructure and civic services across 51 cities.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched development work under her flagship initiative, ‘Maryam Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab’, targeting urban infrastructure upgrades and enhanced civic services in 51 cities across the province.

Chairing a special meeting, CM Maryam directed authorities to complete the first phase of projects by June 2026, emphasizing improvements to sewerage systems and core urban infrastructure. She has assumed direct oversight of the Punjab Development Plan to ensure transparency, efficiency, and timely execution.

To strengthen monitoring, provincial and district-level control rooms will be established for real-time supervision and swift resolution of public complaints. Under the program, 5,887 kilometers of sewerage lines and 181 drainage lines will be constructed, with over 33,000 manhole covers installed. Production of HDPE sewerage pipes is already underway.

Deputy commissioners presented city-specific plans to the chief minister. Major initiatives include sewerage and road expansions in Multan, the largest-ever development package for Gujranwala, over Rs12 billion in sewerage and drainage works in Dera Ghazi Khan, and improvements in sanitation, parks, and solar-powered disposal stations in Bhakkar. Projects are also ongoing in Vehari, Sheikhupura, and Kasur.

CM Maryam also directed immediate improvements in cleanliness and sanitation in Sheikhupura and Pattoki, praised the revamp of Kasur DHQ Hospital, and stressed that development must reach every neighborhood.

Separately, she commended swift government action in Murree, where 185 kilometers of roads were cleared after heavy snowfall, restoring normal life. The chief minister also expressed grief over a tragic road accident in Daska, extending condolences to the bereaved families.
