PESHAWAR (Web Desk): KP CM Sohail Afridi has shared a seven-point draft for talks with the government, covering political, legal and security issues.

Seven-point draft for talks

Sohail Afridi has shared a seven-point draft for government talks with the federal government.

He shared the document on social media and said he was making it public so people could know about the demands.

The PTI seven-point draft says none of the proposed demands are against the Constitution or the law.

The chief minister also claimed that people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being treated as second-class citizens.

Demand for political dialogue

The first point calls for a formal meeting between the prime minister and opposition leaders in both houses of Parliament.

The meeting would discuss major political, national, constitutional, legal and democratic issues.

The draft says both sides should make practical progress on these matters within two months through consultation and dialogue.

The second point calls for a joint political committee involving government coalition members, the Pakistan Peoples Party and opposition representatives.

The committee would continue PTI negotiations on political differences and other important matters.

Demands linked to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi

Another major part of the PTI seven-point draft concerns Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

It calls for their legal, human and medical rights to be provided under the Constitution, jail rules and applicable laws.

The document also asks that their nominated or personal doctors’ medical advice be considered where legally applicable.

It further demands that both prisoners be allowed to meet their families, nominated lawyers and authorised associates according to jail rules.

Calls for legal action

The fifth point calls for legal petitions filed by Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi and other prisoners, including women, elderly and sick detainees, to be taken up according to law.

The draft says the process should begin or be completed within 10 days where legally possible.

It also calls for political prisoners, including Yasmin Rashid and Bushra Bibi, to be considered for early release on humanitarian grounds.

Security plan for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The PTI seven-point draft also focuses on terrorism and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It calls for meaningful and continuous consultation between the federal and provincial governments to protect people’s lives and property.

Under the proposal, authorised representatives from both governments would hold a meeting within 72 hours.

The meeting would prepare a clear and workable strategy for improving security and maintaining law and order.

Long march linked to assurances

The final point connects the demands with the ongoing protest.

According to the draft, PTI would announce the cancellation of the current long march after receiving written assurances from the federal government about implementing the agreed measures.

However, the document says PTI would retain its right to peaceful and democratic protest if the government failed to honour its commitments or unnecessarily delayed the talks.

The proposed government talks therefore remain linked to the implementation of the demands.

What happens next?

Sohail Afridi has presented the document as the basis for further dialogue with the federal government.

The proposed PTI negotiations cover political issues as well as the rights of prisoners and security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The government talks could determine whether the two sides can find common ground on the issues raised in the document.

For now, the PTI negotiations will depend on the response from the federal government and the next steps taken by both sides.
