A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly calling for the nomination of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar for the Nobel Peace Prize.
PML-N Chief Whip Rana Muhammad Arshad presented the resolution. It praises the leadership for their diplomatic efforts that helped reduce tensions during the recent Middle East crisis.
According to the resolution, Pakistan played a key role in promoting peace and stability by helping bring the United States and Iran toward a ceasefire agreement.

The diplomatic development gained global attention after Pakistan facilitated talks between Washington and Tehran just hours before a major escalation deadline.
US President Donald Trump later announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran, which eased fears of a wider conflict in the region.
The resolution states that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally urged Trump to extend the deadline for military action by two weeks to allow diplomacy more time.
The request was accepted, which opened the door for negotiations and eventually helped both sides agree to temporarily stop hostilities.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also remained in constant contact with different international stakeholders and US officials during the crisis.
His diplomatic engagement helped bring both countries to the negotiating table, according to the resolution.
Following the ceasefire announcement, Pakistan also offered to host delegations from the United States and Iran in Islamabad for further talks aimed at reaching a lasting agreement.

The resolution further highlights that tensions among Israel, the United States, and Iran had sharply increased during the conflict.
Lawmakers warned that the situation could quickly have turned into a major international crisis affecting global peace and security.
Because of the diplomatic role played by Pakistan’s leadership, the resolution demands that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Supporters of the resolution say the nomination would recognize Pakistan’s efforts to promote dialogue and prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
