French President Emmanuel Macron has appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States. He spoke with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and congratulated him on the country’s mediation efforts that helped bring both sides to the negotiating table.
During their conversation, Macron described the exchange as warm and cordial. He acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and wished success for the upcoming peace talks that will be held in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the French President for his support and said Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region. He reaffirmed that Islamabad will continue to support dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
Both leaders also expressed concern over the ongoing violence in Lebanon. They stressed the need to urgently stop the bloodshed and restore peace in the region through collective international efforts.

The Iran-US negotiations are scheduled to begin in Islamabad on April 10. These talks are seen as an important step toward reducing tensions between the two countries.
According to Iranian officials, the delegation will be led by Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. On the US side, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Vice President JD Vance will lead the delegation, along with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
In preparation for the high-level talks, authorities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have announced a two-day public holiday to manage security and logistical arrangements.
The growing involvement of international leaders highlights Pakistan’s emerging role as a facilitator of dialogue in regional and global conflicts. The upcoming talks are being closely watched as they may influence future relations between the United States and Iran.
