The Asif Ali Zardari-led Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has instructed its National Assembly and Senate members not to take part in passing any amendments or bills until issues with the federal government are fully resolved.
Sources said Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had requested President Zardari to allow PPP members to participate in some important bills. However, PPP refused, and the bills were not included in the legislative agenda yesterday.
During a recent meeting, President Zardari openly expressed his party’s concerns to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He reportedly said that if the federal government continues its current approach, the PPP may act independently and resist certain amendments, bills, and budget powers.
Sources noted that neither the Prime Minister nor Deputy PM Ishaq Dar could fully satisfy Zardari’s objections. The President appeared angry rather than warm during the discussions, signaling a rare display of strong frustration.

The President was also reportedly unhappy with federal and Punjab government interference in Balochistan matters and expressed displeasure over the approval of ordinances without his consent or signature.
This move shows growing friction between PPP and the federal government. Holding back lawmakers could delay important legislation. It also signals political independence from PPP, affecting upcoming bills and budget decisions. The situation may create more tension between parties in the coming weeks.
