Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed officials to prepare a detailed plan for exporting surplus food items to Gulf countries. The plan will focus on increasing exports while making sure that Pakistan’s domestic food requirements are fully met.
The direction came during a high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister in Lahore, where officials reviewed the country’s food security situation. The meeting also discussed ways to benefit from export opportunities in Gulf markets.
Officials informed the prime minister that Pakistan currently has sufficient stocks of essential food items and there is no immediate shortage in the country.

During the discussion, the prime minister stressed the importance of carefully monitoring supply and demand, especially during the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has disrupted global supply chains.
According to officials, these disruptions have created new opportunities for Pakistani agricultural products in Gulf markets.
The meeting was told that Pakistan’s agricultural sector has strong export potential. This includes crops, meat, poultry, dairy products, and seafood.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also directed authorities to maintain high-quality standards for all exports to friendly Gulf countries.
He further instructed the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation to take necessary steps to support the transportation of these products through sea routes to ensure smooth exports.
