Naushahro Feroz (Web Desk): A serious railway accident occurred in Sindh’s Naushahro Feroz district when Shalimar Express crashed into a stationary goods train at Lakha Road railway station.

Railway officials said the goods train was standing on a loop line at the station when the express train hit its rear side. The strong impact caused heavy damage to the engine of Shalimar Express and two of its bogies.

Police and local administration teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the accident. Local residents also reached the spot quickly and helped rescue injured passengers on a self-help basis.

According to initial reports, the engine of the Shalimar Express became tightly stuck with the bogies of the goods train due to the collision.

Officials believe the accident may have been caused by a technical fault in the railway point or switch system. Railway authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

The train guard was seriously injured in the crash. However, the train driver and assistant driver survived the accident.

Railway sources said relief trains and emergency staff were sent from Kotri and Rohri to Lakha Road station to assist with rescue operations and clear the tracks.

Authorities also confirmed that train operations on other routes were not affected after the accident.
