Islamabad (Web Desk): According to the Foreign Office (FO), Pakistan will not join the Abraham Accords, stressing its Palestine stance is unchanged and Board of Peace claims are misleading.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Thursday made it clear that the country has no plans to become part of the Abraham Accords. Officials said Pakistan’s long-held position on the Palestinian issue remains firm and unchanged.

FO spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi rejected reports suggesting that Pakistan’s participation in the Board of Peace (BOP) is linked to the Abraham Accords. He called such claims a misconception and said there is no connection between the two.

“Joining the Board of Peace has no connection with the Abraham Accords and does not represent any deviation from Pakistan’s principled position on Palestine,” Andrabi said during a weekly media briefing.

He explained that the decision to join the Board of Peace was taken collectively by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after consultations with all relevant stakeholders and completion of required procedures.

According to Andrabi, Pakistan joined the Board of Peace to help strengthen and sustain the ceasefire in Gaza, support post-conflict reconstruction, and promote a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

He added that Pakistan is not alone in this effort. Other Muslim-majority countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Qatar, are also part of the Board of Peace.

Responding to questions about a US travel advisory for Pakistan, Andrabi said it should not be seen as a downgrade. He clarified that it is only an update and that some earlier security-related points have been removed.

He said the updated advisory actually makes travel to Pakistan easier for US citizens. Andrabi described Pakistan as a safe and open country for international travellers.

He added that Pakistan and the United States are in contact through diplomatic channels to further improve travel facilitation and ensure safety and convenience for citizens of both countries.
