(Web Desk): No challan for rickshaws, motorcycles and loader rickshaws will be issued till Eidul Fitr in Lahore as a relief for motorists facing rising petrol prices.

Lahore Chief Traffic Police Officer Athar Waheed has directed traffic police not to issue challans to rickshaws, motorcycles, and loader rickshaws until Eid. The decision aims to make life easier for citizens who are already struggling with rising fuel costs.

Officials said the order was issued considering the tense regional situation and the sharp increase in petroleum prices. The traffic police department believes that avoiding challans during this period will help many people who depend on motorcycles and rickshaws for daily travel and income.

Authorities explained that the step is meant to provide temporary financial relief to citizens. Many families rely on motorcycles and rickshaws to meet daily needs, and the rising cost of fuel has already created financial pressure. By stopping challans for now, the department hopes people can manage their expenses more easily during the Eid days.

Traffic police officials also shared another plan to reduce fuel consumption within the department itself. If petrol prices increase further, officers including the CTO may shift from official vehicles to motorcycles for their routine duties. Police vehicles will also not be kept running unnecessarily on the roads in order to prevent waste of fuel.

According to officials, the purpose of this move is to save petrol and ensure better use of government resources. Authorities believe the step will reduce costs and also show that the traffic police are standing with the public during difficult economic conditions.

Officials added that if petrol prices continue to increase in a third phase, traffic police may even start patrolling on bicycles. Citizens have also been advised to avoid unnecessary use of cars and motorcycles and consider alternative transport options so fuel can be saved.

The decision shows that authorities are trying to give temporary relief to citizens before Eid. Many people use motorcycles and rickshaws for work, so avoiding challans can reduce financial pressure. At the same time, the traffic police are also trying to save fuel and cut costs.
