Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information, Shafi Jan, said police, rescue, and security agencies are exempted from these reductions. The policy also aims to limit VIP protocol vehicles and helicopters, curtail non-essential events, and encourage careful use of public funds.
According to the policy, 50% of the staff will be allowed to work from home to reduce fuel consumption amid rising petrol prices.
Educational institutions will prioritize virtual classes, and Friday closures are proposed to further save fuel. The government also plans to monitor petrol pumps to prevent hoarding and ensure adequate fuel supply for farmers during wheat harvesting.

Finance Advisor Muzzammil Aslam added that market hours may be shortened to save energy. Most of KP’s proposals have been accepted by the federal government, including steps to reduce vehicle use and improve energy efficiency across departments.
The measures will remain in effect for two months, focusing on protecting the economy while avoiding an extra burden on the public. Officials hope these steps will help reduce fuel demand and encourage sustainable use of resources.
