Karachi (Web Desk): Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) opposition moves a no-confidence motion against Mayor Murtaza Wahab, blaming city leaders for deadly incidents and failing institutions.

The opposition leader in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a no-confidence motion against Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, accusing the local government of failing to protect citizens.

Speaking at a press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Naib Emir Saifuddin Advocate said the city has been in mourning since the Gul Plaza tragedy, which killed dozens and destroyed the livelihoods of hundreds of families.

He said people feel abandoned as deadly incidents continue across Karachi. According to him, citizens are dying due to water tanker accidents, dog bites, and street crimes, while no authority is ready to take responsibility.

Saifuddin alleged that criminal elements have overwhelmed the city. He criticized the government, saying officials believe governance only means holding meetings instead of solving problems.

He added that real governance would be visible if institutions performed their duties fully and on time.

The KMC opposition leader also held the Karachi Commissioner, Syed Hassan Naqvi, responsible for negligence. He said Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman had already pointed out institutional failures and mismanagement.

“We had already said that all institutions in Karachi have collapsed, but the government refuses to accept it,” Saifuddin said.

He further alleged that the Sindh government wants all institutions to function under its direct control.
