Jamaat-e-Islami has ended its sit-in at Faisal Chowk on Lahore’s Mall Road after 33 days, leading authorities to reopen the road for traffic. The protest had focused on the petroleum levy and rising inflation, with the road remaining affected during the demonstration.

Traffic restored on Mall Road

Following the removal of the sit-in, traffic movement on Mall Road was restored, providing relief to commuters using the busy Lahore route. Jang reported that partial traffic restoration and cleanup work began after the protest ended at the site.

The development comes as Jamaat-e-Islami prepares for its next phase of protest activity. The party has announced a September 20 long march, while reports indicate that proposals for a train march from Karachi towards Islamabad are also being considered.

The party’s latest move follows talks with the government over the petroleum levy and public relief measures. Dunya News reported that Jamaat-e-Islami said its September 20 Islamabad march would proceed after negotiations ended without an agreement.
