Peace talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States are scheduled to begin in Islamabad on Saturday, April 11, amid conflicting reports about delegations and arrangements.
According to some media reports, the Iranian negotiating team arrived in Islamabad on the evening of Thursday, April 9, ahead of the high-level discussions. Earlier indications suggested that the delegation would likely be led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, alongside Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
On the American side, the delegation is expected to include US Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, who is also a senior adviser and son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump. However, none of the sides have officially confirmed the final composition of the negotiating teams.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has stated that the official list of participants has not yet been finalized, leaving uncertainty over who will represent Tehran in the talks.

Meanwhile, unverified media claims suggested that Pakistan deployed fighter jets and AWACS aircraft into Iranian airspace to provide an aerial escort for the Iranian delegation to ensure a safe arrival in Islamabad. These reports remain unconfirmed by official sources.
Shortly after these claims emerged, media outlets linked to the IRGC, including Fars and Tasnim, quoted unnamed sources denying that the Iranian delegation had arrived in Islamabad, without providing further details.
The situation remains fluid as the world awaits clarity on one of the most closely watched diplomatic engagements in the region.
