PESHAWAR (Web Desk): Flour prices rose again in Peshawar, with a 20 kilogram mixed flour bag climbing to Rs3,300, worrying families already under inflation pressure.

Flour dealers said the price of a 20 kilogram fine flour bag increased from Rs3,000 to Rs3,300. They blamed the rise on a shortage of supply in the market, adding that the situation is creating serious concern among citizens.

Earlier, flour prices also went up in several other cities. In Islamabad, the price increased by Rs10 per kilogram. In Balakot, fine flour is being sold at Rs6,000 per maund, while double super flour has reached Rs5,800 per maund in some markets.

In Peshawar, some flour varieties are still selling at old rates. A 20 kilogram mixed flour bag is available at Rs2,900, while a fine flour bag can still be found at Rs3,000 in certain areas.

Multan also recorded a sharp rise, with flour becoming costlier by Rs20 per kilogram. In the open market, flour is now selling at Rs130 per kilogram.

In Talagang, flour is moving out of reach for ordinary people. Regular flour is priced between Rs120 and Rs130 per kilogram, while red wheat flour is being sold from Rs140 to Rs150 per kilogram. Wheat prices there have risen by Rs1,500 per maund in the last two months.

Kasur has seen a similar trend. Fine flour that was selling at Rs90 per kilogram a few days ago is now available at Rs120 per kilogram.

In Chaman, the price of a 100 kilogram flour bag jumped by Rs2,500 in just one week. The market association said the increase followed a halt in flour supply from Punjab.

Rising flour prices show weak supply control. Different cities face the same pressure at once. Daily food costs are becoming harder to manage for families.
