Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand arrives in Pakistan for key talks
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. This is her first official trip to Pakistan since taking office and is expected to strengthen relations between the two countries.
During the visit, Anita Anand and Ishaq Dar will lead their respective delegations in bilateral talks covering a wide range of issues related to Pakistan-Canada relations. The discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, and people-to-people connections.
Both countries also plan to exchange views on important regional and international developments. Officials believe the talks will help improve cooperation on matters of shared interest.

According to Canadian officials, Pakistan and Canada enjoy strong people-to-people ties. More than 300,000 Canadians of Pakistani origin live in Canada, while around 20,000 Canadians currently reside in Pakistan, strengthening ties between the two countries.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the visit reflects the commitment of both governments to deepen bilateral cooperation. It added that close links between the people of both countries remain the foundation of their friendly relationship.
The visit comes after several important economic engagements between Pakistan and Canada. Last month, both countries held the second round of negotiations on a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement. Earlier this year, officials from both sides also discussed ways to increase trade and investment during the sixth round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Islamabad.
After completing her meetings in Pakistan, Anita Anand will travel to the Philippines to attend meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
