London (Web Desk): Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has been hospitalized in London after his health deteriorated due to stress and nonstop organizational work, party officials said.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London chapter confirmed that doctors admitted Altaf Hussain to a hospital in North London, where he has been living since 1992.

In a statement shared on X, the party said, “Mr Altaf Hussain was taken to the hospital on Sunday evening due to ill health, where, after an initial examination, the doctors have admitted him to the hospital.”

The post added that doctors administered an injection and started an IV drip after noticing weakness in his body. A detailed medical examination was planned to assess his condition further.

MQM spokesperson Mustafa Azizabadi said doctors also advised a blood transfusion, which was given on Sunday night to stabilize the party founder.

According to Azizabadi, Altaf Hussain’s condition worsened due to severe mental stress and continuous involvement in party affairs for 18 to 20 hours daily.

This is not the first time the MQM founder has been hospitalized. Last year, he was admitted twice within one month. On July 10, he was hospitalized due to “severe illness” and discharged on July 23 after multiple tests and blood transfusions. He was again hospitalized briefly on August 8.

Doctors had earlier diagnosed him with severe flu and a chest infection during those admissions.

In February 2021, Altaf Hussain was also admitted to intensive care in the UK after contracting Covid-19. He recovered from the virus three times and spent nearly two months in hospital during that period.
