RAWALPINDI: (Web Desk) The two-week ban on the meeting of former prime minister Imran Khan and other prisoners with their loved ones inside Adiala Jail has been lifted by the authorities.

On March 12, the Punjab government had put a ban on the prisoners’ meetings inside Adiala Jail due to security concerns.

Adiala Jail SP said that the ban on meetings in the jail had ended from today. The ban was aimed to ensure the safety of over 7,000 prisoners including PTI founder Imran Khan. Now, meetings of all prisoners with the relatives or other loved ones can be held as per normal rules.

The ban was imposed on the inmates’ meetings following a major terrorist attack on the Adial Jail that had been foiled by the Rawalpindi police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani had stated that the police and CTD conducted a joint operation and arrested three terrorists, adding that the arrested terrorists were from Afghanistan. “Sketches of Adiala Jail, hand grenades, and IEDs [improvised explosive devices] were recovered from the terrorists,” he said.
