The holiday aims to allow the Hindu community to celebrate their religious festival, Diwali, with traditional enthusiasm and joy.
A formal notification has been issued by the provincial government confirming the decision. According to the notification, the holiday has been specially granted for Hindu citizens so they can freely observe their festival of lights, which holds deep religious and cultural importance in their faith.
The Diwali holiday will apply to all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions, corporations, and local councils operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
The notification, signed by Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, clearly states that this public holiday is only for Hindu employees, ensuring that they can celebrate Diwali with spiritual devotion and peace.
Officials said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to respecting religious diversity and promoting interfaith harmony. The Sindh government has a tradition of granting a Diwali holiday every year, allowing the Hindu community to celebrate their festival comfortably and without restriction.
