The Home Department has officially issued a notification for the enforcement, instructing authorities to widely publicize the order for public awareness.
According to the department’s spokesperson, Section 144 will remain in force until Saturday, October 18. During this period, all protests, rallies, processions, sit-ins, and other public assemblies are strictly prohibited. The order also bans gatherings of four or more people in public places.
The spokesperson added that displaying weapons of any kind has been completely banned across Punjab. The use of loudspeakers is also restricted and permitted only for Azaan and Friday sermons. Additionally, publishing or distributing inflammatory, hateful, or sectarian material is strictly forbidden under the order.

Authorities say the decision was made due to security concerns and threats of terrorism. The government stated that the temporary enforcement aims to maintain peace, protect lives, and safeguard public and private property.
However, the ban does not apply to weddings, funerals, or burial ceremonies. Government officials and personnel performing official duties have also been exempted from the restrictions.
Officials further warned that large gatherings and protests could serve as soft targets for terrorists. They cautioned that anti-state elements may exploit public protests to carry out unlawful activities under the guise of demonstrations.
